@TheMelnTeam You're right ofcourse that cottages plus financial is super powerful early game and very solid throughout the entire game. I personally like production economies a lot and think financial is a great opportunity to also get in some research and wealth. In my last game i played as Inca and went all out on production, he's probably my favorite civ. :)

great video, your mic kinda chews though!

decent point with the pig but w/3 ivory the 4th is pretty useless and you could no longer work the two lake clams/or the plains/forest/hill (very useful tile in a low hammers start)

oh cool a new video i dont believe ive seen this one yet, yayyy!!!!

i like playing the vikings.extra dosh and a bit of fighting oomph ,you cannt go wrong.
I actually like financial more with production improvements as opposed to cottages since the (+1) bonus is of more importance when not already getting a bagillion of commerce. I really like the colossus with financial combo, improving the tiles you're already going to make use of (seafood tiles) plus the easy use of all other coast tiles for when making a (early) tech dash, is great in my book.

Colossus is indeed excellent and not just for FIN, though hard to get often. FIN cottages are the best cottages though, and the only time to spam them. The big problem with cottages is how long they take to pay back the cost of growing a pop and working them. With FIN though, they're much stronger immediately and cap at a higher total, making them quite viable.

why is settling in place obvious? i probably would've been inclined to go north for the extra elephant, and as it turns out it wouldve netted a pig too..

Given where the scout spawned, there would have been no way to determine that on turn 0 without randomly gambling away at least a turn or two (which just as often costs you rather than helps). However, in-place is a solid capitol with fresh water, good production potential, and enough food to use it...why move from a GOOD spot on turn 0? If it was 1 plains cow or something I might have moved :/.

...nice opener; with all those eles providing production, and all that seafood, that looks quite perfect. And a free Hills/Plains start with no movement too! Steamroll?

Ragnar on arch = steamroll anyway. But it should be different from the others.
