Vilcashuaman, located 120 kilomters south of Ayacucho and about a 4-hour drive from that provincial capital.
An Inca administrative center . Its main buildings include the Temple of the Sun and the Moon and the
Ushno or ceremonial pyramid.
Built in times of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui and Huayna Capac (1400-1500),
the complex was one of the most important administrative centers of the Tawantinsuyu.
As the provincial stronghold, some 30,000 Inca warriors were believed to be garrisoned here.
