This phone is upgradable and if you look at any cell phone company in america they have phones every year that get discontinued and they come out with NEW MODELS (what a concept) Dummy... @mshappynappy78 Hi I'm no longer using the Zio as I could not get reliable service on Cricket. If you are taking about Gmail I would suggest the Google Gmail forum. They can answer your questions and a lot more. Good luck!

Do you know if this phone will be upgradeable to 2.1 or 2.1, and if so will it cost any fees?

@elpimproy I was told that the phone would upgrade to 2.1 by the end of the year (2010). Check with a Cricket store to see if that has happened. Good luck.
