  • Hey great stuff, I used to work on these super vehicles when I was in the Army, a bit prone for breakdowns but you just needed to take care of these babies & they would take you anywhere, I lost one of those babes whilst on exercise and had to pull the 2 fire extinguishers, sadly the poor thing melted away into a pulp of aluminium....... Make sure you keep the wheels of the ground to let the torque out of them, when she's sat there doing nothing!!! good ol memories

  • sry i removed you´re other comment, it was a mistake. do you mean the AEC cargo with the nickname "tennie"? yes, any vehicle of the collection is a gold-piece! i love them all. *g*

  • @Highlander16AAB I read somewhere that army drivers would bounce up roadside curbs to relieve transmission windup if being driven on the road.

  • shame they took the swim kit off them in minden

  • Wie viel Hubraum hat der denn?!?V8?

  • C Troop 11 sqn 4 ADTR minden happy days in stally section,85-89,phil c

  • As far as I know there are some companies who use the Stalwart in Saudi Arabia & places similiar.

  • Yes - I was thinking of Stalwarts. I hadn't realised they were still used in the army until 1989 - but I was remembering that Shell had some Stalwarts as expedition vehicles and so I wondered if any others lurked around in these roles - in the same way that old DUKWs still seem to get restored and reused.

I would think there was no real substitute for Stalwarts for some roles.

  • Many of What?? Stalwarts........ NO.... they pulled them out in 89 & put them in stockpile in Holland, as for the Scammel or the 10 ton knockers "AEC CARGO" they no longer exist within the British Army You may see some oldie goldies if you have a fan like this guy & his dad.

  • Great - was a huge fan of these when I was a kid - are there many left?

  • She makes an absolutely beautiful noise.

  • F**king awesome.

Robbo 21 SQN 3ADTR RCT Duisburg 83-88. Rock on those happy memories.
