Ferry boat journey to Büyükada, off the coast of Istanbul. This is the largest of what is known as the 'Prince's Islands', a place of exile for Byzantine and Ottoman royalty. One of the most famous persons living here in modern Exile was Leo Trotsky. After his deportation from the Soviet Union in February 1929, he stayed for four years on Büyükada, his first station in exile.
