Is stealing always a crime? (Haiti, Katrina looting)
In places like Haiti after the earthquake in 2010 and new Orleans after hurricane katrina, people often start to steal/loot and commit crimes more than the usual , some out of desperation and others just to take advantage of the opportunity that the disaster brings.

  • DURING HURRICANE IKE I WENT TO THE STORE TWO DAYS LATER BUT I PAID FOR WHAT I NEEDED BECAUSE WE HAD ELECTRICITY AND WHAT NOT... BUT IF IT WAS LIKE KATRINA THEN YES I WOULD HAVE TAKEN CLOTHING AND FOOD AND FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS TO KEEP MYSELF CLEAN IF I HAD TOO. AND YES BEFORE ANYONE SAYS IT I KNOW STEALING IS WRONG BUT I MOST CERTAINLY WOULD NOT TAKE ELECTRONICS FOR WHAT?

  • I grew up VERY poor, we didn't get welfare. I went to bed hungry MANY times. And we didn't have to go around stealing from stores. I have been widowed twice and raised 3 children without welfare. I have never had to steal from stores. There are people all over the world who go through earthquakes, hurricanes, all kinds of disasters and they don't have to steal . It's all about morals people.

Personally I don't think a hungry person should be denied food. After all a bag of rice cost what a buck or two?

But with that said, I store food for emergencies. So while person A goes out and parties I spend those few bucks on an extra can of food or bag of rich.

It is the hight of arrogance that someone who had a good time with his surplus cash then demand that I support him with my surplus cash.

Doesn't the bible say The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat???

And it wasn't somewhere in the back either.

  • @CSATexan ....What I meant was God would not punish you and deny you coming into heaven just for stealing food. Of course I pay for food ( and grocery shopping isn't cheap like it used to be )

It is wrong to steal from others ( food or not ) just because of a earthquke or hurricane. People need to beter prepare for the unexpected.

  • The average home in the US has about 5 days worth of food. If people just bought a couple of extra bags of rice and beans, they wouldn't have to go about looting.

Lets forget the legal or illegal aspects of it.

How many people think that going about looting is a safe thing to do? There is no law an order, people are taking what they want and YOU HAVE SOMETHING THEY WAN'T

  • @metal1531

So you don't pay at the grocery store?

  • The bible say's stealing food is not a crime, and you won't go to hell for stealing food!!!

  • @jahseedbeatz504 LOL we racists don't judge according to race we judge based on moral character and blacks have shown no morality what so ever. For example why is it that in every rap song some negro has to say "make money legally or illegally" that's right because they don't care who gets hurt as long as they get their crack, orange soda and beef jerky. 51% of crimes here in this contries are caused by negroes.

  • @TheEmoTronROBOTx die whitey i want to kill you!!
