This is an edited version of the BBC documentary 'Man without a memory' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDNDRD...). It shows the essence of Clive's disability (and it's pretty sad to watch too!).
Post-view question to ponder: do you think Clive is happy?

The shame is he seems like a terribly intelligent and sweet man.

He HAS seen a doctor. He's seen dozens. He just doesn't remember them. As far as he's concerned, there's a giant gap from the last thing he remembers (long term) and suddenly he's an old man with no memory.

It's like every time you blink, ten years are erased. You wake up from dozing off, and your wife is talking to you. You glance up and blink and try to respond to what she just said, you don't know what she's talking about, you just make something up. Every 10 seconds. His life is hell.

"You go on Reddit" and "I can tell from the misused comma." should have something between them, as they're a run-on sentence as is. A dash or a semi-colon, etc.

I heard this man's story on Radiolab. It was a good one.

actually, i don't consider that a shame at all. if anything, it's inspiring. it speaks volumes of his character and resilience that he's such a great guy in spite of the confusing, frustrating, and likely terrifying situation he finds himself in. is it sad that he can't live anything remotely close to a normal life? yeah, i guess, but then no one would think twice about how nice he is, which really is a shame. and it must be flattering as hell to his wife that she's the only person he remembers.

The title is totally wrong...his short term memory is intact. Clive's long term consolidated and unconsolidated memory after the surgery is affected.

Nearly a year ago, I met some guy who walks with a slight limp. Well, he seemed perfectly fine to me his speech, look, comprehension etc. To outline the matter...majority of his right hemisphere was removed when he was a kid; but it wouldn't be easy to tell that without an MRI scan or whatever. I never would have guessed.
