  • how did you make the ball bearing cd wheels?

  • @mattj120893

    1. we glued 5 old CDs together with epoxy 2 component glue, it is important to align them properly.

    2. we bought skateboard ball bearings, and adjusted them to the middle, again glued with epoxy

    3. we glued a rubber band (cut in a regular bike tube) on the edge of the weel to smothen the thing when it rolls.

    4. I have three weels for sale :-)

  • It was designed for a sail-car contest where it had to start in front of that blower and be the fastest on 10m. So it can only go straight (we had to align the wheels perfectly) and only downwind. It behaved pretty bad the day of the contest so we dumped it. But we kept the ball bearings CD wheels and the hand sewed spi which did a good job, maybe we'll make a steerable one out of them.

  • ugly thing, and it only rides down wind. bahh

  • @LaGuigne83 i live in arizona hahaha

if you could post some pictures that would be great!

  • it can only go down wind? that's lame

  • Would it only go in one direction then? I didn't see anything allowing it to change the camber or direction of the sail.
