what's the difference between audi's quattro and volkswagen's 4 motion?

Night and day difference. 4Motion is a more basic all wheel drive system that also has a high and low differential that allows for amazing off-roading. Quattro transfers power between wheels that will allow the car to maximize torque--hence the reason it is so amazing, no other all wheel drive system is like it. (this is a very simplified version)
