Alternate Routes is Side Street Projects' creative woodworking program for kids age 5 to 11. Since 1997, Side Street Projects has brought the lost art of woodworking to literally thousands of children throughout Los Angeles County. Alternate Routes' goal is to teach children how to use tools safely, effectively and (ultimately) independent of adult assistance. Classes are held in brightly colored mobile classrooms: renovated transit buses that house 10 woodworking stations custom made for children. These are some students in action... designing and building their very own projects. Find out more about this program at http://sidestreet.org/woodbus
this is how it all started for me when I was a child I was an inner city youth then a man I cut grass for took mme into his shop and said here some plans find something and we will build it togther I built a bird house with him it might be an easy thing to build but It got me into the love of wood working and all thoughout my years I learned what i could and bought what I could for tools now I am a wood worker all thanks to him.
