THEME
Singer. Dancer. Race car driver.
We all want to be someone in this world. Someone that others will notice. We all have dreams and aspirations.
Shower singer. Bedroom dancer. Occasional gamer.
Sometimes those dreams and aspirations might be hard to achieve. Sometimes we trip and fall and we end up settling for less.
Well, it's time to stop settling. It's time to stop playing, posing or hiding.
It's time to get with it.
CONCEPT
STOP follows the private moments of three individuals who seem to be doing great things: singing, dancing, driving a race-car. But it is slowly revealed that they are only doing lesser versions of these same activities. The idea is to show that while people dream, a lot of them have had to settle for less. The reveals are also meant to be more understated than heavy-handed twists.
The subtle message is that with VH1, these people can get back into the real versions of those activities instead of imitating them. Instead of living with fear and disappointment, they can turn to the lights of their forgotten TVs. They no longer need to pretend, they can now participate instead of hiding their talents away.
STOP is meant to be a live-action video set to a melancholy track (in the sample, the track is "Mad World" performed by Gary Jules) and with a slow motion and black-and-white look. By focusing on good compositions and the expressions of the characters, the emphasis is more on conveying mood and emotion as opposed to narrating a story.
