President Obama joins Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Austan Goolsbee to answer your questions from WhiteHouse.gov as he participates in the Winning the Future Forum on Small Business in Cleveland, OH. In this segment, the President responds to a question from Roy in Temeculah, California: "The economy develops in pockets and clusters. Why don't we match this with our workforce development for the best results? We all know that people have many different jobs over their lifetime, and we need to retrain where and when it's needed -- keep it simple, buy it quickly, keep it local. The local aspect allows easy access for the people that need the training, and it's tailored to the local environment and conditions."

  • If I were president, one of the first questions I would ask would be:

"Small businesses, what can I do for you? As the backbone of America, you help our nation stand tall."

    Mr. Sparkle,

How about asking small businesses for some good advice? They know a lot about the economy.

  • We're in the end times -- the end of the old times and the beginning of the new. We're evolving.

Old times -- spending money we don't have, propping up multinational corporate giants, giving our power to the president, and ignoring person responsibility. These kill freedom and crush the economy.

New times -- saving money we do have, shopping locally to support small businesses, curbing the president's power, and accepting personal responsibility. These support freedom and grow the economy.

  • "Every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others" — Ayn Rand

  • Small Business owners and entrepreneurs must stop focusing and relying on the government and take advantage of REAL GROWTH tools like Social Media Marketing and Main Street Marketing...

  • So does this mean that Hawaii should offer training in working in shops that sell "shaved ice"??!

  • @sunnyside3150 Obama is already responsible for what's happening NOW; he is not responsible for the ignorant actions of George W Bush. Why should he be? Does he have responsibility to rectify the wrongs the his predecessor? Absolutely, and I think he is working on it.

And by the way, this is coming from a somewhat disenchanted Obama supporter, that believes as MAtt Damon, that he has misinterpreted his mandate. It was the progressives that poured the sweat to get him elected, not wallstreet

  • @usam1981 My answer is below, but you are right about one thing: "you can't answer my question, because there is no answer to my question." all rhetoric is this way. So is narcissism.

  • @usam1981 And if not this, you'd say that govt. can't create jobs, only business! Which gave them all away. And if Obama and his team had not avoided eco-catastrophe, you'd say what an incompetent he was! And Americare will withstand and legal challenge because it is constitutional and gives all of us the medical care elected Repoopwecants take for granted. And they get in on public coin, too. Say, is that not Socialism? LOL

  • @greenguy249 LOL...well, if that's not a thigh slappin' good one! LOL

    OBAMA IN 2012!

  • @InvictusX100 Ya you and your "brother" or whatever code you guys use other than loser, can go to hell, since its the only place that wants losers like you. LOL
