Joe plays a DeFord Bailey medley at the National Harmonica League Festival, H2006, at Bristol, UK, last year. It is uploaded with Joe's cooperation. He had a sore throat so we have scrolled his vocal tribute.
First rate playing, and a fitting tribute to the first African-American on the Grand Ole Opry (and a terrific player). Joe Filisko also is the best at building, modifying, and repairing harmonicas.
Palmer's "Lost Boy Blues" dates from 1928 and its rhythm is quite similar to the "Fox Chase". However I think Bailey did a slightly better job on it...but maybe I just heard a different version or you meant a whole nother tune.

Hey Joe
You play very well. Who was it, either amateur or professional, that played the Harp that made you want to pick it up?

Hey Joe,
You are amazing! I remember when you began playing the harmonica...such a long time ago. It's so great to see if play!
I still respect you friend.

Great stuff.Thank you.
Tell me if I'm wrong but didn't Palmer McAbee make a very similar tune but earlier and even faster than Deford Bailey's version?
