The final or "closing" strip on the bottom requires careful fitting. Patience and a sharp block plane are requirements.

This is from a series of videos showing the steps of building a wooden kayak using the "strip-planked" or "strip-built" method. This particular boat is a high performance sea kayak design called the Petrel by Guillemot Kayaks. More information about the boat is available at http://www.guillemot-kayaks.com . Further information about the building techniques shown in these videos is available in the book "Building Strip-Planked Boats": http://building-strip-planked-boats.com/ For more videos in this series please visit: http://www.guillemot-kayaks.com/guillemot/blog

  • Every clip is amazing! werry thourogh

  • I think you could "shave" down your movie clips a bit. They are great clips but some times a little to long on one task. And maybe leave the notes up longer. Other than that thank you for taking the time to document all of this. Oh and one more thing some of the sound tracks are not allowed to be played here in Germany due to copyright laws. So I can't see some of your clips.
