I didnt really have too big of a problem with competitive tourists over picture taking (and I was there during Hanami season!). I wonder what the draw was. I think the most people I encountered was at Kiyoumizu-dera temple

I read it's a rebuild not a renovation as it was burned by some sort of crazed monk or priest in the 1970s.
