This makes way more sense than the airplane theory. We all know that the US government has no problems murdering people.

@anthonyc31 You seem to lack any knowledge of how these buildings were constructed. The exterior columns were linked to interior columns by the floor trusses. These trusses were attached using 'angle clips' on each end.

The floor trusses gave the exterior columns structural integrity to prevent twisting and bowing. If the floors were 'pulverized' upward, 1-2-3 etc, the exterior columns would have bowed out and snapped under the strain.

The collapse would have begun at ground level.

@facebookprogrammer Details3: These buildings were unique. Try to visualize them instead as bookcases where the shelves were attached at either end to the outside walls of the case. There are no supports within the span.

If you overload one of the top shelves to the point that it collapses, it will fall on the one below it. As that one is (nearly) instantaneously overloaded, it fails and crashes through the next.

With the shelves gone, the walls fail.

@facebookprogrammer Details2: The interior columns at impact were 3/8in walled boxes. Although they were thin walled, the weak point of all of the columns was actually the 'end bolts.' A 4in deflection in the column would cause the bolts to snap.

You can see in any hi-def picture that the aircraft penetration had pushed some of the columns into the building intact. These has been deflected until the bolts snapped.

The floor trusses held the columns in position.

The most stunning fact I learned was that the exterior columns at impact were 14in box steel with 1/4 inch wall thickness. I've seen them listed as either 36 or 42ksi.

Just like how you can stand on a soda can, a hollow tube can withstand massive compression force but very little lateral force - pressure on the side. (cont)
