There's a competition to name the first two boring machines for the Crossrail tunnels and they've now shortlisted ten pairs of names - one of them is Bobbie and Phyllis!
-
Sally Thomsett was cast as the 11-year old Phyllis, despite being 20 years old at the time. Her contract forbade her to reveal her true age during the making of the film and she was also not allowed to be seen smoking or drinking during the shoot! The youngest railway child was the oldest child star! :D

wow, the boy who plays Peter has SINCERITY
I'm the same age as Jenny Agutter was whilst making this film, and I've seldom seen a teenage girl look and sound so elegant and sophisticated, with her hair up revealing dangly earrings and a swan-like neck. And nor have I heard a teenage girl speak with such soft and peaceful intonation. These days we're usually scruffy and possess something in our intonation that reveals our age, regardless of where in the world we're from. But this young lady seems much older.
