One of histories greatest gaming publications makes it's first foray into the seedy world of video game help videos.

This is the first of the series and may be the best. It takes on the likes of the brutal Double dragon, the taxing Bionic Commando, confounding Milon's secret castle, and the Grueling Robowarrior. There's also Wizards and warriors, but you'll never beat that one, don't even bother.

When I got this tape in the mail, it was broken. The front was missing, and the tape itself was broken, but that's not enough to stop me from bringing it to you, the viewer. Almost, but not quite. I also got some free pizza while I was fixing it.

--------------------

In this part: Ride the blobs of slime! But, only if they take you where you want to go. Then, learn Milon's secrets!

  • Did they really put an 'RBI Baseball' ad in one of those tapes, or did you put that in?

  • All of these videos are completely unedited.

  • @VomitFrogPrince And as always, haiku does not come with crown as illustrated. LOL ;-)

  • Ride the blobs of slime

But only if they take you

    Where you want to go

    That's a fucking haiku.

  • Addendum: I recall that in the instruction manual for the US version there is a blurb at the end that explains the continue code, but bear in mind the original release did not document this.

  • Metal Gear has both a Password continue feature documented in it's manual, and an in-game hint system.

There is truly nothing like being stuck for hours without any idea what to do and even less how to go about it, then dying stupidly and finding yourself staring at the cheerful title screen.

  • Well... Metal Gear was about the same way though... Their was a ton of misdirection, and the puzzles were a lot a like. I mean come on, punching out walls? All the gripes that make this game shitty are what make it great as well cause you can justify them with other games that do the same if not similar things.

  • I liked it too.

I'm a bit of a masochist and obsessive compulsive so I didn't see what the big deal was, but there's so much misdirection so many puzzles with no logic attached it's no wonder it's so disliked.

Do Re Mi Fantasy alone justifies it's existence.

  • I never hated Milon... I actually thought it was pretty good!

  • Yeah, Bionic Commando. I played every day until my NES stopped workin'
