Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Whatever colors you have in your mind
I'll show them to you and you'll see them shine

Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile
Until the break of day, let me see you make him smile
His clothes are dirty but his hands are clean
And you're the best thing that he's ever seen

Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile
Why wait any longer for the world to begin
You can have your cake and eat it too
Why wait any longer for the one you love
When he's standing in front of you

Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead
I long to see you in the morning light
I long to reach for you in the night
Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead

  • IT MY TOP FIVE OF GREATEST ROMNTIC ROCK SONGS.....THE GUITAR PLAYING WAS BOTH TRIPPY AND APPALACHIAN AT ONCE......FREUDIAN GENIUS THIS DYLAN GUY....PLUS~HIS VOICE WAS RACELESS AND CINEMATIC

  • love this song - used to put it on the jukebox when just courting - been married 30 years this year - at least the song is still as good lol

  • im 14 & i love Bob Dylan, THERE'S STILL FAITH PEOPLE!!

  • One of my favourite Dylan songs...

To be honest I much prefer his more beautiful, simple, profound songs like this

rather than his long winded multi-versed "songs" which are more like

poems set to music than actual songs

  • My first love girlfriend she was 16, I was 20 gave me this on the old 8 track to play in my car. Every time I hear this I think of her. Being in the Military at the time kept us apart. Romance fell apart. She was a beautiful young girl. Never forget her.....

  • uhm... people, this song is about fucking lol. Dunno why everyone applies a deeper meaning to this song

  • @r0llskyay0 rest assured it is. this was during his Nashville Skyline sessions with Johnny Cash.

  • @r0llskyay0 Yeah, but it's him, he didn't use this kind of voice much, but if you dig into his bootlegs you will find quite a collection of songs with his voice sounding like this : )
