Mike Nager and I took TRINITY III, a 30' Catalina, out for a spin. It was a swell day with good winds and we headed from the Brisbane Marina towards San Francisco. Videos taken with a Panasonic LUMIX ZS1 camera with video feature which is stored on a SDHC card was inadvertently corrupted when it was downloaded onto a older SD reader. Not to give up, I was able to recover still frames and rebuilt a video from the frames. This is what came out as a result of the salvage job.

Now, let's bring on the AMERICA's CUP RACE over here!

  • @astropil01: any video files were corrupted and cannot be viewed. But by chance and after using a card recovery software, jpg files were recovered. File format were at x1080.So yes, it turned on HD.

  • This looks like an hd video. Did you somehow save the ZS1 files as wide screen or what?

  • @MrAliMcB: Thx. video is nothing more that still images running at 15 frames or more per second. But stitching stills into a movie is a fun exercise to do. I've actually seen other better vids than mine out there.

There was no issue with the Zs1. But I prefer the HD over the SD and the stereo over the mono, so I upgraded. The new LUMIX out now is the Zs7 version.

  • @tbombon I see, now you've inspired me to do a video made entirely of pics!

Did you have issues with your ZS1 or did you just wanted an upgrade?

  • @MrAliMcB: Thanks. Actually, the SD card on the ZS1 got corrupted. Thus, the videos I shot that day was hosed. In my attempt to recover files from the card, I recovered the JPG files (some of it but not all). To salvage, I just did a stitching of the JPG files and dumped it into my Video editing software... and out came this effect.

I returned the ZS1 and bought the ZS3 (has HD and stereo). The ZS3 has now been replaced by a ZS7 (including a 12 MP and 12 x zoom).

  • Wow amazing vid, did you use continuous mode? Just ordered a Lumix ZS1 myself and can't wait to get my hands on it, the pics look awesome! Oh and thanks for sharing, San Francisco bay looks gorgeous
