@Ballyvourney Thank you........ This is a 3hp Onsrud/Shoda Pin Router. It is 220v 3-phase (running on a phase converter) I think it draws like 10 amps....
I used to bandsaw close, then route with a small bushing, then again w/o the bushing. I was still getting blowouts on hard or curly wood and furring up the endgrain on softwood like basswood. I noticed that the CNC guys weren't having those battles, so I tried routing w/o bandsawing and without the bushing. Works great! I'll never go back!!! It is harder on the tool and the machine, but the other way killed one 14" bandsaw allready!! lol!

What's the benefit of this style? Why wouldn't you just use a bandsaw to cut close to the edge and then usa a flush cut bit with a template?
