It's amazing that in this day and age, our 'improved' edcation system thorougly stresses 'correct grammar' as if it's the utmost important aspect of learning, but says nothing about critical thinking - a higher level of thinking. Any student can learn to mimick the structure of linguistic correctness, but what's the use if they don't learn to think, to question, to argue, to problem solve? If they only know the rules of grammar, but have no independent thoughts, what's grammar good for?
..and yes, my use of "curriculm's" does show that grammar is not a focus in the current (or is it now past?) curriculum, but at least I can fucking think for myself (and recognise that it's not grammatically correct).
Who cares about independent thought? About learning to analyse texts, contexts and by extension society, depth and meaning! The children can't use proper punctuation! We must drill it into them - revert to past english curriculum's. That will solve everything. As long as they can dot their i's and cross their t's, all will be well..
Yes, lets just encourage high school students to drop maths (in NSW anyway) by making the course more difficult for those who aren't particularly good at maths - sorry, by "simplifying" the course - and not challenging enough for those who are actually good at maths. That will really improve education in Australia! Bravo. And lets scrap the arts.. just reduce hours for it; it's not really important is it? Not compared to the grammatical plight!
Yes, "they're getting it done," and in doing so screwing up our education system even more! Thank you, Labor. As always we can count on the ALP to create more fucking problems that will, undoubtedly, need another batch of "reforms" that create more problems than they solve..not that any of the other parties are any better.
@Choowbz Have you read the Curriculum. Have you compared the curriculum to your own state's one. I have had the pleasure!!
It is exactly the same....so i wonder how many so called Laborites were employed on big bucks to write what is already been written a thousand times before!!

.....and yes, I am aware I am basically talking to myself. Thank you, national curriculum, for making me more insane than I was already.

A philosophy Labor no doubt employs.
