From the February 2010 Fresno Commodore User Group meeting. The Kantronics Hamtext cart for the Commodore VIC-20 is demonstrated. First, there is the WWII Morse key, then trying to use morse code going through the Hamtext interface into the VIC-20 with Hamtext cart, then more looks at the menus. Filmed by Bernardo

  • This brings back memories from the early 1980's when I used a Commodore VIC 20 with the Kantronics cartridge that plugged into the VIC 20 game port. I interfaced it to my Kenwood TS-520S HF rig for CW and RTTY operation and also played around with the ASCII mode with some other local hams in 2 meters. Of course I upgraded to a Commodore C64 a bit later. Had a lot of fun with it!

  • That was a Vic 20 dude. Man I loved that. It made my day. Where can I get one of those cartridges for my Vic.

  • Pretty neat stuff. I did learn morse code at primary school in the early 80's, but remember very little about it now :(

Cool stuff though and on a C64 :)
