Once again a predatory police state society is being created. Police policing everyone now? Searching Everyone will be the norm. What's the purpose for this? Mega income generation from catching everyone who has expired tags and or plates?
I past a cop going the opposite direction at about 50 MPH, and the DMV had my plates messed up and I knew it. But the cop pulled a u-turn and pulled me over. So these system can catch plates while moving. Its nuts.
I guess the chilling thing is the idea that by linking all the scans of your license plate, the government could put together a log of your comings and goings all day.
This is just more power than the government should have, even if it technically is constitutional.
We are really on the verge of living in a surveillance state. We are giving up liberty for a false sense of security.
Where is the warrant for this kind of search? Why is there no probable cause, no description of the place to be searched? Where is the oath or affirmation of evidence of wrongdoing?
There is no presumption of privacy in public places, but this technology creates a surveilance state that is no compatible with a free country and a limited constitutional government.
4th Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the person or things to be seized.
