Mental Illusion Controller - Serious Aggro Issues

Mental Illusion Controller vs. Sludge Thing demonstrating the serious aggro issues for Mental characters in the release build of DCU Online.

If you watch what happens in this video you see the following events:

Barf pulls

I hit the mob with a barrel doing ~300 damage and taking momentary aggro having out dps'ed the initial threat.

I throw out my Phantom Blades (Illusion tree damage and power regen trigger)

Mob stutter steps and returns to Barf from the barrel damage.

Blades hit the mob and instantly draw agro back me.

Having taken agro with just blades I go into just weapon spam waiting on Barfs taunt to take the mob back. You can clearly see Barfs name plate on the boss as she wails away.

This continues through to the end of the fight. You see me put out a FEW abilities to help stun adds and to get the power regen buff up but from about the half way point on I am basically JUST blocking while Barf continues to beat on the boss to no avail.

I play a lvl 30 illusions controller and looking at your bar I see you aren't packing Grandeur. It will drop aggro like a rock and makes for a great tanking/escape button with the temporary invincibility buff. Drop one of your terror skills (pick one, aoe or single target, don't take both) and pop grandeur whenever you pick up aggro or after a power dump and you will have no problems.

@IceKarma Sadly, that's incorrect. At the time of this video Grandeur did nothing. As assumed at the time, we found today confirmation that this was a bug with Phantom Blades.

From today's patch notes:

"The use of Psychic Blades will no longer cause your target to focus solely on your character."

This was solidly a bug with the games code, but fortunately it's been fixed now.

your doing it wrong, you gotta give the tank time to grab aggro, there are no taunts for fire and ice, they get aggro from damage.

@smileypsycho Several of the abilities used by Fire are indeed taunts. There is no "just a taunt" skill to my knowledge but Fire does possess the ability to taunt and what this video shows if that when used in conjunction with a Mental controller there are obvious issues. Further, if it is just damage based agro then surely at some point while I was just blocking my tank would have taken it back as you can see he never let up his assault on the boss.

Is Illusion better or Telekinesis I cant decide. They acctually play a bit diffrent roles looking at their skills. A advice would be nice.

On any of the mental trees is there a healing spell? Iconic, telekinesis, illusion

Tanks get aggro from taunt (abilities), not damage. What is BARFS dominance? I play

a fire tank with around 460 dominance. I dont have much trouble holding aggro, just sometimes against Ra's al ghul. I spam immolation, flashpoint, backdraft works great for generating threat.

Your using hand blaster and getting too close, your not a tank so back away.
