I think it was about the time that Chet demonstrated that he could play two songs at once, that we began to realize who the REAL Mr guitar in this world was....

  • As always the yo yo's will rationalize for their brand of music. Let them go ahead !! But here is a modest musician who was the best there ever was, just try and work out this finger work in 1959 like I did. Try Yankee Doodle Dixie, Swedish Rhapsody, and if you can't figure it out, go to Chet 1952 and watch. .....jack, bye the way, good luck with the Chet Style.

  • @engraver41 Allot of people, especially the uninitiated, can't appreciate the difficulty in making these tunes so smooth as Chet did. He makes it sound all too easy, when I myself can attest after trying to imitate him for forty some odd years, that it's definitely NOT easy.

  • @daffydoug Hi Doug, thank you for your kind input and somewhat setting the record straight. If the worlds most famous guitar players can vote chet atkins mr. guitar than what else is there too say, we have heard them all, but only Chet had the golden Touch, sort of like Jim Reeves., there will never be another..

  • @engraver41 Even Paul Yandel, Chet's right hand man for all those years, said that he has heard many guitar players, but NEVER heard any one else with Chet's touch.

  • the US evidently uses heavy metal at loud volumes continuously to torture terrorist suspects. instead, if the Bush-Cheney-Obama? torturers played every Chet Atkins song he ever did, at a pleasant volume, the US could probably convert the terrorists to our side. you catch more bees with honey than vinegar. yeah, winning their hearts and minds by killing them. sinners.

  • @pvelectric Beautiful thought! Thanks for sharing!

  • They might be more advanced but most have the knowledge and don't know how to use it.

Chet was the best. Not being arrogant just stating the facts. Show me another guitarist that has sold 70 million albums just playing guitar!

At one time in this country people stived to be the best at what they did. Chet accomplished that.

The reason we have these so called artists like 50 cent(1/2 a cent) is because everyone wants to appear so open minded and not call crap for what it is.

  • Wow, very impressive.

  • Ah can play two guitars at once, but not necessarily at the same time, so there . Bob cannae dae that!

  • @asparwhite86 They're just jealous because they can't play like Chet.

  • 1 person is obviously deaf.

  • You do a good job of mixing genres of Mr. Atkins music on here. While I have certainly heard better renditions of his classical pieces, his true genius lay in his versatility. From pop, rock, jazz, R&B, classical to country western. That and bringing classical standards to an audience that had never heard them before were where his mastery lay. He was a true gentleman of the Southern old school and a virtuoso as well. Thanks for providing a venue for music of such great beauty:)
