I used to love this ident and jingle. Reminded me of Saturday aternoons when there was only sport on the other 2 channels and BBC2 would come on and have some Black and White film on, or Playaway... BBC2 was very much more reserved, back then. But, it kind of gave a sense of warmth and security. Or, maybe it's just me getting a bit nostalgic! If you were able to play BBC2 as it is today, back in 1979, you'd not recognise it. Progress, eh?

The BBC2 Stripy logo was designed by Oliver Elmes of the BBC Computer woorkshop. It was done by a Digitalized Computer Animation. This one lasted from mid-1979 to March 30, 1986. This was the first digitalized identification of the BBC.
