I totally agree with your discussion about #4 and #5. As hard of hearing, I have been through that situation. About the "thick skin," that is interesting that you brought it up. I know that deaf community love to laugh and joke about wrongful signs from hearing people as I do. Deaf community are sensitive when they verbally spoke the words wrong to hearing people. That might be the reason why Bay is easily hurt by Emmett's mother comment as much we don't like to be mocked by hearing peers.

@ericas46 i thouht it was interesting that melody wastalking abt forced tosit on her hands...and then emmett was handcuffed....similar thing..taking away ability to communicate...

One last thing- my guess why Emmett got arrested was for the billboard that he made for Bay. And I hope they show an accurate portrayal of what a Deaf person experiences getting arrested and having to deal with interpreters and all the legal ramifications it can cause. Thanks for your observations,

...The argument about speech therapy was very intense and I do understand Melody's perspective,but I can understand Emmett's frustration, too. But you are right that everyone has their own opinion about speech... And the cop was completely ignorant and wrong!-Police brutality! And having no interpreter to "read" Emmett his Miranda Rights, while cutting off his only way to communicate was horrible!

...I agree it is nice to seeToby is signing more. I read in an interview that the actor, Lucas Grabeel, was the fastest learner and signs the best out of the hearing cast, and he is the only hearing actor to learn more ASL than just his scripted parts. I also wish Daphne would sign more ASL and that the dad would start signing to her more...

I agree with almost all your observations! Although I agree "Nevermind" should never be used, when Bay said it to Melody that was wrong because Melody was not understanding her. But when she said it to Daphne it was because Daphne was having attitude about what Bay was about to say, not because of lack of understanding...
