Meet John-Paul as he discusses his experiences at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), and dispels some common myths that he encountered when joining the Air Force as a Pilot.
Just as the afterburners on Air Force jets provide a significant increase in thrust, Air Force Afterburn provides a significant increase in access and exposure to the amazing young men and women that make Air Force what it is.

The intent of Air Force Afterburn is to FIGURATIVELY OPEN THE GATES to your Air Force and give UNPRECEDENTED ACCESS to our great people, and the exciting lives they lead by being part of the Air Force team.

EPISODE 1
Officer Cadet John-Paul Thorbjornsen

Footnote: On 10th December 2009, OFFCDT Thorbjornsen was awarded the Chief of Defence Force Sword of Honour for Leadership at his ADFA Graduation Parade!

  • Wow that looked depressing, lol. oh top gun why so many lies?

  • What degree did you do?

  • Haha I remember Thorby when he came to Perth once as a Raafie Cadet, think he came third on course, good to see he got in.

  • @rednut416 Pilot training in the RAAF is very competitive, just to be able to reach 'training' would be considered an achievement, they want the best of the best buddy.

  • The one would be to overestimate our strength, and thus neglect crucially important actions in the period just ahead. The other would be to underestimate our strength. Thereby we might dishearten our friends, and to lose our national poise and perspective in approaching the complex problems ahead. Any orderly balance-sheet of military strength must be in two parts. The first is the position as of today. The second is the position in the period ahead.Eisenhower-State of the Union-1958
