Yes Bc dogs and cats can play together_But-the cat lying down is both hissing & moaning-trying to tell the dog he's pissed! My tuxedo cat bhindi puts up with rough play from cutter the red Bc, but they have time out behaviors when its too much. Bhindi will chest bump the dog to break his herd stare/stalk...or swat the nose if needed to call off a tussle! Use care with your pets, your Bc is smart enough for more charming manners w/ his family!
One of our current girls is very tall as well and when we went to the farm for her, we met her dad and he was this huge brown and white border collie who just stood and peered over this massive stone wall without jumping up. Apparently he was being used as a cow dog because of his size. One of my aunties BC has nicknamed rumpty stumpty because she was short legged but her sister from the same litter was very tall for a female as well.
I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. My entire family love Border Collies and we have had around 15 of them over the decades. Each one of them have been from farm stock and every single one different in appearance, height, type of coat, build, etc. People should ignore what the breed standard says as that is someones twisted idea of the perfect BC. The variety IMO is what makes Border Collies so good.
Poor Kinsey! :) But I'm sure he's used to being stepped on by Winston! Winston seems like a very smart and fun loving dog. He probably is not a pure bc (based on not just the looks but movement, too - I've never seen bc lie down that reluctantly) but that is beside the point. Winston is lucky to have a loving family and kitty friends!
@Luculencia Huh, I didn't know that. I wonder if my rescue border collies might be all border collies instead of only half like we've thought. She might just be the show variety. Hmmm.
Cats are a BC's worst nightmare: critters that will *not* be herded.

@kryps1 In case you don't know, the cat was calm throughout. Her ears were up and belly exposed. A tense cat would look and react much differently.
