riding a bike home at night is much safer than walking as you avoid the face to face confrontation from drunks etc.if you get verbal abuse from some pedestrians, youre already gone so its not a big deal.

Couple of comments from a male point of view. 1) Anyone who has a go at a female for riding a bike is a scum bag. 2) There is something beautiful about a woman on a Dutch ladies bike. 3) Women represent half the population, therefore we need to get more female cyclists because we need more cyclists and less car drivers. I'm not sure on the insinuation that cycling is a new thing for women, women have been cycling as long as men.

I ride in Los Angeles. Here there are such few girl/women cyclists. I only see them riding around college campuses or on beach pathways. My guess is that they are put off by 1. the pollution 2. by the crazy drivers and 3. by the fact that bike riding in soCal heat means very sweaty business, which most are not willing to put up with. Are these factors as plausible in Orlando?
