(Part2)James Espy, the vice American Council at Nanking, reported to the American Embassy, said the city was completely fallen into a state of anarchy by Chinese soldiers. The Chinese soldiers in holy terror came to be out of control and began looting and killing. Chinese soldiers in their mad rush to discard their military uniforms and put on civilian clothes, in a number of incidents, killed civilians to obtain their clothing. The Nanking Massacre was caused by them.

(Part1)Actually Chinese soldiers escaped from the Nanking wall. That's why we can see so many ropes which were suspended from the top of the Nanking wall to ground for escaping from the battle against the Japanese troops in documentary videos. Chinese soldiers were bandits, so they committed many crimes during the war.
