In order to understand the storyline of the metal gear series(of the games that belong to the official storyline), u would need to view the avaible cutscence etc of the games in this order:

there starting another whole saga of metal gear called metal gear rising, it starts between 2 n 4 and it shows how raiden got all robo n stuff, its also going to be action based instead of stealth, and i think its going on past this time as well

Actually, you should play Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater FIRST, then play the ones on PSP then the ones on NES and SNES, after that the oone on Playstation(PSX) called Metal Gear Solid then the last 2 on Playstation and Playstation 3.

This was the most epic saga i've ever seen. Not all human beings live forever. It was a good run Snake. Dont waste the life you have left in you fighting. (Although a 5th would be cool) =)
