The Ghost of Kate Morgan at the Hotel del Coronado near San Diego CA

With more than 120 years of history behind her, it's no surprise that this Victorian masterpiece has had its share of ghostly guests.

Though supernatural stories abound, most have to do with Kate Morgan, a beautiful young woman who checked into the hotel in 1892 — and never checked out. After spending five lonely and lovesick days waiting for a man who never arrived, Kate was found dead on an exterior staircase leading to the beach. Kate had a gunshot wound to her head, which the San Diego County Coroner later determined was self-inflicted (some skepticism still surrounds this finding).

Today, Kate's spirit seems to have remained at The Del, where she tends to occupy her former guestroom. But her beautiful vision -- and ghostly pranks -- can be experienced throughout the rambling resort and grounds.

um can you please respond. I am a 12 year old boy and i love to learn about this stuff,my mom said she will take me and her there to stay the night. Now i am wondering if this is a good idea or a bad one?

@hollywoodundeadboo Thank you for viewing our video. Guests often come to us with reports of strange experiences, like the light turning on or something moving by itself. But Kate is a friendly ghost! She likes to play tricks. If you are worried, you can choose to stay in the Ocean Towers or California Cabanas guestrooms because those are in a different building. We hope you do come to visit us :).

I've heard she was a prostitute that frequently lurked the hotel. I guess she's not done.

@chonaV Thank you for your comment. Actually, Kate Morgan was a guest of the resort in 1892. She was not a prostitute. The resort published a book a few years ago with all of the historical information if you are interested in learning more about her story!

It is a very good idea. You might not meet Kate (I never have) but it is a lovely Hotel to wander around in.

You will like the stairs. Signup for the tour of the hotel, if they still give it. Just enjoy it. If you can't go now Christmas is a nice time. Anytime is a good time to go exploring at the Del.

My wife and I honeymooned at The Del in 2005. We did keep an eye out for Kate, but she didn't materialize for us. However, we did walk by her room 3327 and noticed an oddly blinking light in the hall outside her room. Perhaps an indicator of paranormal activity? :-)

I have been to Coronado several times and passed by this hotel!!! I always wondered if it was haunted because I always got a creepy vibe!!! So thanks for the video now I know!!
