*Back inside with Selena and Ashley. Selena is bright red and Ashley is speechless.*

S- how long was she there?
A- I think the whole time.
S- she heard everything?
A- I believe so.
S- damn it. I need to go apologize.
A- why? You just said yourself that you hated her.
S- I was just mad. I cant believe she came to my party and brought a present. (opens it and sees a huge Louis Vuitton bag and a pair of heels that match. Inside is a card from Nick and Demi. It says Sorry about this afternoon. We hope you had a great day otherwise. Happy Birthday. Thanks for being our friend even when no one else would. Love, Nick and Demi. P.S. Im really sorry for ruining your birthday. I hope you can forgive me- Demi. (closes the card)
A- girl, this is like a $9,000 present they just gave you.
S- I need to go find Demi and apologize.
A- ok, is Kevin here yet?
S- why?
A- no reason.
S- hes probably by the musical equipment.
A- ok thanks. (goes to find Kevin while Selena goes to find Demi)

*Outside. Joe guides Demi to a little playground right across the street. The street light is the only light that is available. Demi sits on the swing still silently crying and he leans on the pole next to her. She doesnt say anything.*

J- what happened?
D- just leave me alone. I dont want to talk to you or be near you.
J- well youre already talking to me and youre already near me so try again.
D- I hate you.
J- you can hate me all you want but I sure as hell know I didnt make you cry. So why dont you tell me what the problem is.
D- I hate you and your perfect best friend. You had the nerve to say Nick and I were judgmental, maybe you should have that talk with your best friend.
J- what are you talking about?
D- I want my brother. I dont want to be here. I want to go back home, where I wont be talked about behind my back and treated like crap.
J- just tell me what happened.
D- (turns the other way on her swing) no
J- (goes around and crouches down so that he is eye to eye with her) tell me what the problem is and I will fix it.
D- you cant.
J- why not?
D- because the problem here is your best friend.
J- Selena? What did she say?
D- Im sure shell be more than happy to tell you herself. Like she said She enjoys bashing me and making other people hate me as much as she does and it gets her anger out. Those were her exact words.
J- she doesnt hate you. Shes just upset that you werent nice to her at lunch on her birthday.
D- we didnt know it was her birthday.
J- I know. I told her that.
D- you did?
J- yes.
D- why?
J- because Im a nice person.
D- I just dont want to be here. Im not wanted here, they think Nick and I are emotionless. That we are some robots who get everything we want just because we can. (pauses and then says quietly) No one understands
J- no one understands what?
D- what we go through every day. We may be wealthy but we are far from being perfect or even being happy. I just hate this place, I hate the people here. I want to go home and never come back. (starts to cry softly again, Joe wipes away her tears and pulls her in for a hug. Shes too shocked to move)

*Selena looks all around the house for Demi. She is just about to give up when she bumps into Nick who gets his drink spilled all over him.*
