Great vid, just one thing: Referendums are not illegal in Germany. They do not exist on the federal level, but are quite widespread on the local, regional and state level. Of course, OUR constitution makes it illegal to vote on its core values (these are not even changeable by an absolute majority in parliament): E.g. you "vote away" minority rights etc. by plebiscite...

Your analysis of vouchers is in error. Vouchers are no more putting money into the hands of the church than medicare is just because some hospitals are catholic hospitals. Furthermore, no parent WANTS their children to be stupider. Sidenote, I went to a catholic elementary school--they taught evolution. The benefits are that schools that provide inadequate teaching will go out of business. There aren't enough characters for a full analysis, but the system is valid.

@notinmyname2050 Sorry for my nitpicking :-). And you are right in an important way: On the federal level they are still NOT allowed, and the main reason given WAS, for many years, the one you pointed out: In "Weimar" , plebiscites gave the extremists a possibility to "show of" and destabilize parliamentary democracy, and in the Third Reich they were purely "acclamationary". Opinions on this have shifted a lot, and many now think we do need "more democracy". It´s an ongoing discussion..
