My angels have bred for the first time, one of which is a few years old and the other has only been in the tank for about a month. The audio is probably best avoided.

  • It turns out that all 3 angels are girls :( Which is a shame as I wanted to have a chance of breeding them. But makes sense to why they keep eating the eggs a couple of hours after laying them. Livebearers can sometimes be overwhelming I keep guppies in a small 2ft tank, if I could sterilise them I would :)

  • lol i always seems to know whos female and male. from petstores i have been lucky to pick 2 males and 3 females lol.

the males is slightly thinner.. lol

  • Yeah I was convinced that the smaller Angel at the time was male as it had a thinner papilla than the larger one. However on a separate spawning occasion (when they were both a similar size) I saw them both laying eggs.

  • i have eggs and my dad took the toob out of the other tanks so the anglefish dont eat it.

  • Cool good luck rearing them. I don't have a spare tank I can do that with so the fish keep eating the eggs at night. I thinks it the plec :)

angelfish should guard their eggs but I gues there is only so much they will guard from. Plus I have read that due to captive breeding their parental instinks are not as strong as wild fish.

  • how many gallons is that?

  • its approx 30gal. The male here is very small, and its filmed from the side of the aquarium
