also when i open Public folder from Windows machine, windows require user name and password ? from where in Ubuntu can i manage this password ?

thanks for repetition , how can i access windows shared folder from my Ubuntu , you should complete your video with the reverse way , i mean to access shared windows folder from Ubuntu cause this the bad point around which every body asks for it and no answers no solution nothing available about it , have you any idea how to solve the error message "Failed to retrieve share list from server", when you got some idea about how2 solve it please make another video as a trailer for this one , thanks,

Don't know if you can answer this, but I've done what you have pointed out here, but everytime I try to connect to the ubuntu share, i get a box to enter a user name and password.
I am assuming that I have some permission issues to work out, but i am not sure...
Any Ideas...

When sharing the folder make sure you check "Guest Access" that's the only thing I can think of that could cause that. try it out and let me know if you need more help.

what about setting the workgroup name.

At the Terminal type the command
sudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf
Scroll Down and at the workgroup = workgroup, simply change the workgroup name and press enter
Restart Samba, at the terminal type
sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart
That's it.
