Elton Britt has recorded a lot of versions of this song. This is the one I grew up with. One of the finest yodel songs I have heard. It has a lot of bluegrass flavor. I can still remember when we held a contest for the longest held note at the end of this song. I never won any.
Wow, I love this!!!

My fathers favorite yodeler. He loved this song and sang it pretty well himself. I think he had every Elton Britt album. I was 7 years old and would listen and picked up how to yodel myself at a very young age. :))

Dynamite song. Only thing--too much bass. Elton needed to give a lecture to his bass player the way Stan Freberg lectured his musicians during "Yellow Rose of Texas," "Banana Boat Song," and "Great Pretender." the bass man was drowning out the singer and putting my somewhat delicate equipment at risk. Probably OK if I used my big speaker, but thought I'd lose my headphones.

absolutely wonderful!!!. I saw Elton Britt in person in the 50's at Stamford Ct. in those days they traveled and played at the high school auditoriums. It cost five dollars to get in. Elton Britt sang "A Star Spangled Banner" for me that day. the shows would keep playing on for their audience. not like the stars today who do you a favor singing one or two songs.
