Altered Paint Can

Hi, here are some paint cans that I altered, at my sister's request for decorations at her upcoming wedding, hope you like them! I bought the cans at my local paint store, Frazee paint, they were allot cheaper since I had to buy so many, but I do know your able to get them at Home Depot also. I cut two different designs for the top section, and two for the bottom section. Top: 3 5/8 x 9 & 3 5/8 x 12 & using a 1 inch circle punch, I went in on each side of the 3 5/8 x 12 paper about a 1/4 inch, and I went down 1 1/2 inch from top & punched a circle to go around the handles, then I made a template to use for all my future cuts. Bottom two pieces are 3 3/4 x 9 & 3 3/4 x 12. The best tape to use for this project is Red tacky tape, but I used atg, and scotch quick dry being that I had so many to make. These make great "gift bags". I hope you like them, and Thank you for watching! :)

Wow, how super neat is this!!! Tell me, was there paint in these and where did it go? haha I couldn't resist asking since that was on my mind during this whole video. I was thinking that these cans would be super cute as storage too... LOVE this idea. Super inspiring!! Thank you so much for sharing!

@brooknrich HaHa, Brook, YOUR comment made me laugh! No there was no paint in this. I buy my empty cans from either a paint store, or walmart, or home depot. They are cheapest at a paint store...about $2.50 a can for the gallon sized. They are great for storage, I even use them in my son's room, but he wouldn't let me decorate it (go figure) so on his I just put labels, and they hold his marbles, wooden blocks, etc. I've used these for gift cans, and they always seem to be a hit.

@corenescreations :) I just had to think that they were empty b/c you A. bought them that way or B. there was a huge bin outside your house with fun paint colors inside. :) I kept thinking "how would I use all that paint up so I could alter one?" Go figure. I am so picking up some of these next time I'm at home depot. My mind is running WILD with things to fill them with in my craft room. Have you ever shipped one? Like for a swap or something?

@brooknrich That made me laugh :) I love the idea of having fun paint colors in a bin outside, but I really can't be trusted with all that paint! I have shipped one before, by just putting it inside a box, to my lil sister & she said it shipped well. My favorite to decorate is for someone having a baby so they reuse it for storage in the babies room. Thanks again for making me "S.M.I.L.E"!!!!

Great idea! Woidl looove to make these as "new home" gifts bags (cans). These are beautiful. Would you mind posting pics as to what they look like at reception/venue?

I will be more then happy to post pics of them at the reception, as soon as we get our pics back. I do have to tell you, I had several people come up to me to say they loved them, and thought they were a good idea, so I think the new home gifts would be great. Hope your having a good week.
