Mark plays Outrun Arcade and xbox 2006 coast2coast

A new series of small videos, not really reviews but just some games I happen to really like. This is episode 7.

Platform: Arcade, Xbox, PS2, PSP, xbox360 live (the latter I've been playing to death)

I just found out that I am a collector of the Outrun games. 'Auto Ran' as the Japanese would say. Digging through my closets I found out I have versions for many consoles, home micro's and handhelds. I believe I have just about every Outrun related game out there. The Arcade original just blew me away at the time. Still the Sega sprite scaling monster with the stereo digital sound, the steering wheel, the hand shift arcade machine would be something I like to own one day. It's rather huge though. The sense of speed in the original arcade game was amazing. The steering wheel was one of the first to use some type of 'force feedback' now very common in many console controllers.

The 8bit home conversions for the c64 and the Amstrad CPC came with a special audio tape (compact cassette) that you could play on your audio tapedeck instead of listening to the rather limited remnants of the great soundtrack the original arcade game sported.

The original sequel to the Arcade outrun was Outrun2, this can be found on PS2 and Xbox and this disc features an Outrun2 SP mode which faithfully reproduces all the original outrun tracks. The later Coast2Coast edition features additional modes not found on the first sequel. The online multiplayer mode of the PS2, PSP and Xbox version died out rather quickly and today I can't find a single player when I fire up multi player mode on those consoles.

Microsoft has recently put out a Xbox 360 Live Outrun Coast2Coast which is slightly different from the original Xbox and PS2 versions and also has slitghly different controls. Been playing the latter to death as I want to beat a mate of mine who is just do d**n good at it. This results is me sometimes really screwing up in this video segment I recorded on the original xbox version of Coast2Coast.

Been shying away from multiplayer mode on the 360 a little trying to become better at it first. You can look me up - the gamertag is Lactobacillus.

ik was via de zoek functie aan het kijken naar "sprite scaling" spellen, en kwam weer eens bij deze video terecht. hahaha, outrun blijft toch voor mij de eerste en beste sprite scaling racer. maar heb ondertussen ook een indrukwekkende afterburner clone gezien op de commodore 64! leuk om je video nog eens te zien trouwens.

@musicmaniac1965 Hi, ik heb laatst ook nog een aantal van je nieuwe drum videos gekeken. Heb nog geen commentaar gegeven maar het is tof om iemand zo te zien genieten van muziek. Wij hebben hier in de straat ook een jonge drummer wonen die naar mijn idee behoorlijk goed aan het worden is. Vroeger als kind timmerde ik ook op het drumstel van mijn oom. Nu bak ik er weinig van hoor :P

Je bedoelt de originale Afterburner release of heb je een ander spel gezien? Erg benieuwd!

Good suggestion: The Wii's controle scheme would really lend itself to this game I think. It's out on just about every console one can think of apart from the Wii and Gamecube.

Outrun Online Arcade on the 360 is out. It is a cool game but apart from the Hischore option it basically is the same as the original Xbox version.

je kunt de clone vinden met dit in de zoektext: First Strike C64

het spel gebruikt hetzelfde truukje als de orginele afterburner om zo het 3D effect te creeren. erg knap gedaan.

these games are just so much fun to play ! i kind of hoped they would do coast to caoast on the xbox 360, but instead we get a stripped down version of oturun 2 SP :-) still, i never expected outrun to come on the next gen consoles, so i still feel lucky :-)

i agree ! outrun 2 is the best ever arcade race game :-) and the outrun 2 SP version (in other words outrun online arcade, and outrun 2006 coast to coast) can't wait for more content in the latest in the series (outrun online arcade)

ik ben het er mee eens outrun 2 is de beste arcade game ooit, maar ook outrun 2 SP (ofterwel outrun online arcade en outrun 2006 coast to coast) ik kan haast niet wachten op extra inhoud voor de nieuwste telg in de serie (outrun online arcade.)
