Welcome to the Coolangatta Sands Backpackers Hostel and the first stop here on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The 100 bed Coolangatta Sands Hostel brings to the Gold Coast an unprecedented level of accommodation, security, cleanliness and facilities and only steps from the beaches of the Gold Coast with its world famous surf breaks like Snapper Rocks and D-Bah


Originally built in 1922, the classic "Queenslander" went under a full renovation in 2007 which transformed the top level into a modern backpackers rest for those in search of quality accommodation at a cheap price. Facilities include large communal bathrooms, WiFi internet, communal kitchen, laundry and TV lounge. Our rooms are fully air-conditioned with hotel quality inner sprung mattresses and your bed is made with fresh crisp sheets prior to your arrival. Security swipe cards and lockers in each room add to the security expected by today's traveler.


All of this is surrounded by our stunning covered balcony, with day beds to laze on as you watch the world go by... or watch the ocean breaks of Kirra Point; only steps from our front door.

The location was excellent! Right beside a very beautiful beach and the staff was very helpful and friendly. It was very easy to meet new people and it was much less crowded and less expensive than surfer's paradise right up the road.

i stayed at the sands hostel for a week with a mate, the facilities are beautiful.

sadly there's nothing to do in coolangatta... fortunately there are heaps of hot chicks there.. hot chicks + nothing to do =.. well you get the idea

I lived for one year in Coolangatta and promise you, that this is definately the best place to stay. It's super modern, clean and safe. Plus you're right in front of Kirra, so you'll know when surf is on. Everything is within short walking distance, wether restaurants, surfshops, groceries, or snapper rocks / dbah.

The staff is nice as well, so enjoy your time in Coolangatta.
