To the comment below-these horses can't just stop. They aren't normal horses. You can't just pull back and stop. If you pull back on the reins,they go faster actually. These are race horses not trail horses and if they did stop,their muscles would completely lock up and cramp then seizures because these horses aren't bred to just stop. That why when the race is finished and they have crossed the line,they let them keep running til they choose to slowdown.

why they don't stop race ? they have a few second to show jockey to stop horses how much horse stop to 0 speed? 3-4 second? they have 15 sec when crazy horse go to wrong way... in racing with car after flag everybody stops or reduce speed ... fatal error of judge!!

Fucking horses. Animals that can't survive colliding head on when running don't deserve to live. Can you imagine this happening with any other animal?

Both the horses died. As for blaming the outrider, it's easy for someone who's never tried to catch a loose horse in the blinding rain on a deep track to critique. I say kuddos to the outrider for pulling to the outside to avoid his horse colliding with the field. Sad day for all concerned.
