I have been planting fruit trees in parks, off high ways, and trails for years. The workers always cut them down. Every one needs SOME SET UP NOW. But here are some ideas.... A car alternator with a fan blade can be used to make electricity. SEEDS! Stock up. Water filters that get EVERYTHING out at stores. Know where things are that you you cant afford FOR LATER. Every time you go into a store, look to see what you will need later. Solar panels and power mates. Chickens and rabbit farms.

A comment waaayyy down there asked why people are afraid of genetically modified seed. I hope people know that Monsanto made a modification that renders the seed of the plant sterile.

If those plants cross pollinate with your heirloom saver seed plant, you're screwed. This means that there is the potential that within a very few years, Monsanto could control the world food supply. By accident or design, it's terrifying.

I live in a trailer park, so I have no land to plant food and fruit trees.. but I do .. after we make space.. to stockpile food.. canned, mre's . freeze dried, and water. I know its not the best way to prepare, but it's better than nothing.

If your going to store lumber you will want to put in a dry place and band it together to keep it from warping while in storage. At least for raw untreated lumber. Get one of those band saw mills with a diesel engine and have some stuff for making Bio Diesel for if you cant get diesel after the big one =).
