Since I have gotten my new phone, I have been experiencing the same thing. I feel like my phone has been highjacked. I even reset my phone and it is still doing the same exact thing yours did. It is not doing it as often but often enough. I go through GCI in Alaska and I have done so for many years now.

I am honest to god right now. I use tmobile and also have a blackberry and I have also experienced that same sound. I thought it was just a problem connection, but maybe alien convo that we dont understand.
