@magikbymoonlight Because nowaday's offsprings of the Emperors (and all the other nobles) are spoiled rich bastards who would ruin the country. A restoration would only make sense when that would be abolished and re-distributed to people worthy of it.

It is ''Heil dir im Siegerkranz'' ("Hail to Thee in Victor's Crown"). It was from 1871 to 1918 the unofficial national anthem of the German Empire.

Yes, Victoria (wife of Frederick) was the daughter of Queen Victoria. But that wasn't the cause of the same melody. This you could hear also to the times of William I., the father of Frederick III.

"Heil Dir im Siegerkranz" - the anthem of the German Emperor. The melody was the same like the British National Anthem. Also Liechtenstein has the same melody, Switzerland in former times too.
The melody of today's German anthem you could find as the Austrian one.

The tune is not only that of "God Save the King or Queen" but is also that of "Heil Dir im Siegerkranz" (Hail to Thee in the Victor's Crown) which is the PRUSSIAN national anthem (1793). Kaiser Friederich III was German Emperer and also the King of Prussia - hence the tune. It had nothing to do with him being appreciated in England.

Perhaps because he was the only king of prussia who was (very) appreciated in England , and because his wife and his mother in law was British.

Für das Deutsche Reich war der Tod Kaiser Friedrichs III. eine Katastrophe-obwohl sein Sohn, Kaiser Wilhelm II. besonders innenpolitisch den Deutschen wirklich "goldene Zeiten" bereitete( stellenweise war das Wirtschaftswachstum des Deutschen Reichs größer als das der USA), war er auf dem außenpolitischen Sektor leider überforder und konnte dort auch nicht durch die kurzsichtigen Reichskanzler Bülow oder Bethmann-Hollweg unterstützt werden.
