I dont understand why people are arguing about this now... there are already a few maglevs in operation and there have yet to be any problems with them to the best of my knowledge. Sure maglevs are expensive to initially install, but they are much faster than any other train plus much more cost efficient to run.

Planes are also extremely wasteful on fuel and not sustainable in the long run. Furthermore they are far more inconvenient; high-speed trains pick you up from downtown and drop you off in downtown, no hassles, no airport trips, and that's important to any business. Also, note that Tokyo-Osaka carries an extremely high volume of passengers; Shinkansen trains running at 300 km/h already serve the route every 5-10 minutes back to back with departures timed to second accuracy; planes are no match.

Les trains magnétiques Japonais sont comme les F-35 américains, largement inférieur aux TGV ou Dassault Rafales parce qu'ils sont des impasses technologiques.

you cant master something just by using it for 30 years. sometimes it takes another tech to be implemented to make it better.

To an extent, but maglevs are still Much faster than any alternatives on the market now, and they may not be the cheapest trains, but they are still cheaper than plenty of alternatives. Unfortunately I doubt OPEC will let diesel engines go too far out of service seeing as that would really hurt their business : /

This test tracks are located in Yamanashi, a neighboring prefecture of Tokyo. Perhaps it takes one or two hours from Tokyo whether by train or by car. I've been to once.
