Air pistol.

Unfortunately, Boothroyd was wrong on this one.
The AR-7 cannot fit in its floating stock with a telescopic sight.
It was designed to be an iron-sight, self-contained survival rifle.

You are correct. Before he showed the pistol, I was wondering about him firing a firearm in his house AND without ear protection.
-
Bond also used a Walther P-38 in Goldfinger, in the scene when he's shooting from behind the Aston Martin driver's door (right before Tillie gets killed by Oddjob's hat).
This was never explained in the movie.

"A Lady's gun, and not a nice Lady at that."
What a euphemism for a Stripper Pistol.

@revokdaryl1 No, I didn't notice Daniel Craigusing a PPK, I agree, that is really cool and I'm glad they brought the PPK as well.
-
@SilverWolfM200LDH Did you notice that Daniel Craig used a PPK all throughout Quantum of Solace? I thought that was awesome that they brought it back. The PPK was last seen getting replaced by the P99 in Tomorrow Never Dies.
-
I know everyone knows "Bond's gun" as a Walther PPK and now a P99, but what do you think about James Bond being issued a Beretta again. I think Daniel Craig carrying an M9 would look really cool.

@Demokirby could also have to do with the poularity of dirty harry, released just 2 years prior.
I wonder if Bond using a .44 magnum in "Live and Let Die" was intentionally done in response to how he wanted Bond to one day use something like that.
Anyways, the PPK is very concealable, which makes sense for his normal spy activities. But there was times in the movies that he was on missions that didn't revolve around having a concealed firearm.
