Madden 09 Guy Is Dead WTF!!!!!!

i was playing madden 09 with one of my friends on xbox 360 and all of a sudden he tackled me and kevin curtis went down and DIED. he did not get up for about an hour we left the game on. so we just both quit and played a new game. if this happened to anybody please tell me or if u know wut happened then please tell me!!!! sorry about the bad quality.
