seidokaikan karate world cup 1993 final: Hug vs Satake, part 2/2

Masaaki Satake (later well known pride MMA fighter) vs Andy Hug (previously famous kyokushin karate fighter, later famous K-1 kickboxer) in the final of the 1993 Seido kaikan karate word cup.

Seidokaikan uses a variant of kyokushin Knockdown karate rules.
The difference is that in the case of extensions, you put on boxing gloves. Also in the case of a draw after several extensions, the bout may be determined by tamashiwari (breaking tiles/boards).

In the knockdown karate rules there are no punches or elbows allowed above the neck -although kicks and knees are allowed anywhere. clinching and grabbing are severely limited.

Seidokaikan karate is a kyokushin karate offshoot, and was the origin of the k-1 kickboxing tournament -which grew out of seidokaikan challenge competitions.

Even though I'm an absolute fan of Andy, but in this fight Masaaki Satake was better and more clever. he deserved the win.

This was definitely a really bad decision - Hug clearly dominated all the extra rounds as well as the one with the gloves being used. He was pretty visibly annoyed with the outcome.

I love how this goes from a kickboxing bout to freaking SIDEKICKS. I mean, board breaking? Just so Stake could win? Hug was OWNING him!
